| Die Katalanen nennen das
Gebäude spöttisch "La Pedrera" (Steinbruch). Es ist ein
weiteres Wahrzeichen Barcelonas und das erste im 20.Jahrhundert
errichtete Gebäude das die UNESCO 1984 zu einem Weltkulturerbe
erklärte.
Das Gebäude fasziniert durch sein merkwürdiges Äußeres, den spinnennetzartigen Eingang und die Tatsache, dass es nicht eine einzige gerade Wand gibt. Auf dem gewellten Dach wurde die Schornsteine mit Tonscherben dekoriert und fantasievoll "versteckt". |

The Catalan people call it
"La Pedrera" (the quarry). It's another emblem of Barcelona
and the first building of the 20th century which was put down on the
UNESCO's worldheritage list in 1984.
The building fascinates with it's weird outside, the spiderweb-like entrance and the fact that there's no straight wall in the whole building. On the wavelike roof the chimneys are decorated with clay fragments and hidden in a imaginative way. |
