Windsurfing at Lac Bay

| Lac Bay is named the perfect place
for freestyle windsurfing. For a while Bonaire was only known as the
sleepy sister-island of "Big Wind" Aruba. But within the last
few years a group of Bonaire Kids defeated the top names of the
international windsurfing community constantly at many locations. So by
know Bonaire already hosted the 2002 PWA World Freestyle Finals.
Bonaire is blessed with almost constant on-shore winds. It's windy all the time and you cannot get blown out to sea. It's an ideal setting for freestylers or just beginners like me. The water is waist deep only and the hue of the tranquil sea is "a rainbow of blue"!!.

On any day one can observe kids (some
barely out of their diapers ;-) , to adults of 80 sailing, training and
racing. On weekends its a popular hang out to party, rest, read and
enjoy the relaxing caribbean surrounding.

| As a bloody beginner I was able to ride a very wide board with a kids sail (Size 2.2) after one hour of teaching. It was diffcult to keep the balance, pull out the sail, stay on the board and get going in the beginning. But on my second day or lets say on my third hour of trying I started being fun. |
