Amerigo sah die steilen Berge mit satt-grünen Wäldern die bis an den Strand reichen, eine Küste mit hunderten kleiner Inseln und das klare, warme Wasser der Baia da Ilha Grande, das so ruhig ist wie ein leeres Aquarium. All dies existiert zusammen mit einer der bezaubernsten  Kleinstädte Brasiliens (laut Lonely Planet) immer noch. Paraty (gegründet im 16. Jh) ist eine gut erhaltene und restaurierte koloniale Kleinstadt. Häuser mit einfachen Linien, erdigen, natürlichen Farben, alten Holztüren in rauhen Kopfsteinpflasterstraßen im Kontrast zur tropischen Umgebung - das ist die Schönheit von Paraty.

Kein Zweifel, so viel Sehenswertes lockt Touristen an, aber dieses Interesse stellt sicher, dass diese architektonischen Relikte auch erhalten bleiben.

 Amerigo was referring to steep mountains with lush forests that seem to leap into the sea. A shoreline with hundreds of small islands and the clear warm waters of the Baia da Ilha Grande, as calm as an empty aquarium. All this still exists along with - according to Lonely Planet - one the most enchanting settlements - the colonial village of Paraty. Paraty (founded in the 16th century) still is a beautiful village with well preserved and restored colonial relics. Houses with simple lines, earthy colors and textures and old wooden doors on rough copplestone streets in  contrast with the natural tropical surrounding - that's the beauty of Paraty.

No doubt, so much beauty attracts tourists. But this interest makes sure that all these architectural relics will be preserved.
