Der Galata Turm ist einer der ältesten und schönsten Türme Istanbuls und wurde während der Herrschaft des Byzantinischen Kaisers Justinianus im Jahr 528 erbaut. Er ist der letzte Rest einer Umfriedung dieses Stadtteiles aus dem 14. Jh. Die Höhe des Turmes beträgt 61 m und seine Spitze liegt 140 m über dem Meer. Von der Besucherplattform hat man ein herrliche Aussicht auf den Bosporus und die Stadt.

Galata Tower, one of the oldest and most beautiful towers in Istanbul, was built in 528 during the sovereignty of the Byzantine emperor Justinianus. It's the last remaining landmark of a wall surrounding the whole city quarter in the 14th century. It is measured 61 meters high from the ground and 140 meters from sea level. From the top you can enjoy a wonderful view and scenery of the Bosporus and the city.
